Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is deep tissue massage that may efficiently treat injuries. It is used to remove blockages and damaged cells, speed up recovery and encourage healing. It does not set out to relax the patient, the intention is more to fix physical pain and injury. Improvement has also been achieved through better sleep, increases in vitality as well as increased mobility.

Regular remedial massage can ensure that small injuries are treated before they reduce physical performance. It has effectively removed scar tissue remaining after old injuries, and can reduce repeat injuries. Following a recent injury, improvement or complete recovery can be experienced after 1-3 sessions.

During treatment there is tenderness in areas that are being treated, indicating where muscles and tendons are injured. The therapist uses the patient's feedback to pinpoint the damaged tissue and to regulate pressure. Lack of movement and incorrect use of muscles reduces oxygen supply, resulting in pain. Remedial Massage increases blood supply to this soft tissue and is especially effective for reducing pain.

Some common conditions that can be successfully treated are:

• Achilles Injuries

• Tendinitis

• Shin Splints

• Cartilage damage

• Tennis Elbow

• Frozen Shoulder

• Hamstring Injuries

• Scar tissue

• Adhesions

• Whiplash

• Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

• Repetitive Strain Injury

I have had some experience with several remedial methods, such as trigger point therapy, and I have been delighted with the significant results in treating chronic injuries and relieving pain.
